Foxboro Mission Statement

We teach horses, hounds and people how to foxhunt.

Thanks to founders Pete Knox and James Wilson, Belle Meade Hunt is one of the top hunts in the country. And we are fortunate to hunt the third largest hunt country east of the Mississippi River.

Located in the middle of the Belle Meade Hunt country, Foxboro Farm is in a perfect location.  Many of the Foxboro Farm boarders hack the 3 miles over to each hunt. It is fun and the warm-up helps take the edge off of the horses. Of course we trailer horses to and from each meet as well. And we often run so far during the hunt that the trailer has to come pick us up “deep in hunt country.”

Trail riding is a big deal here as we have access to 300 acres year round. The idea for the trail and jump system came from the wonderful Hitchcock Woods in Aiken, SC. Imagine Hitchcock Woods with a wide variety of jumps and obstacles and almost twice as large.

Both the outside course and trails have stone walls, aikens, rail fences, banks, log piles and brush boxes. Most have low, medium, and high sides. We have coops from 3 planks up to 8 planks on each side. This way green horses or green riders can build up their confidence over the small stuff before they go hunting.

If you and your horse can jump everything safely and competently on the outside course, you are ready for one of the two jumping fields at Belle Meade. If not, you probably need to stick to one of the non-jumping fields.

We have small and large wooden bridges over some of the creeks. We have fords and creek crossings and ditches.

It is simply one of the most fun places you and your horse could ever find to play together. Many people call Foxboro Farm the “Center of the Universe for Horses.”

If you like foxhunting, trail riding or just quality time with your horse – you will love Foxboro Farm.  Call for an appointment. We will be glad to show you around personally.
